Going...
Gone!
Preston Luna did it 3 times in the Lexington-Scottsdale game at Storm Ballpark.
3 home runs in one game!
But his team lost. The Starlings outscored the Storm 4-3.
"Gosh, it's a shame we didn't win this game. I get my name in the record book, but we lose the game."
For the day the Lexington catcher went 4-4 against Scottsdale with 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored in a brilliant display of power hitting.
"I was in a groove," he said, "and every pitch they tossed up there looked like a basketball." Commenting after the game to the press, the semi-elated Luna explained, "I tell you what, I was surprised because I didn't think the last ball had enough to get out. I thought it was just going to be a long out."
P. Luna hit a solo-shot off R. Cooke in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off R. Cooke in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off R. Cooke in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This year Luna is batting .417 with 13 home runs and 34 RBIs. | | Friday, April 21st, 2034: Roberson's Hit Streak Over The hitting streak that Lexington first baseman Nathan Roberson had going was ended today by the Scottsdale Starlings. Roberson, who had hits in his previous 21 games, was stymied today, but the rest of his team picked him up, earning the Storm a 3-0 victory at Storm Ballpark. He was hitless in 3 at-bats.
"Hitting streaks come and go. One good thing came out of it, however, it perked up my batting average a little bit, but did put a little pressure on me. It's hard to be natural at the plate with the streak always in the back of your mind. If it had to end, I'm glad it was in a win."
This year Roberson is batting .325 with 6 home runs and 16 RBIs. In 20 games he has scored 18 times. | | Friday, April 21st, 2034: Scottsdale Draws Blanks Against Corner Eddie Corner made it look easy today. The Storm pitcher shut down Scottsdale 3-0 on 2 hits. For the game, Corner recorded 7 strikeouts and 1 walk.
